instructional courses

  • Intro to Outdoor Climbing

This course is designed for anyone looking to make the transition from indoor to outdoor rock climbing. Belay devices and methods will be covered, but this is for people who could have fundamental skills like how to wear a harness and toprope belay.

    Duration: 1 full day

  • Anchor Cleaning Clinic

Come learn how to build and clean your own anchors on fixed hardware and work towards climbing safely on your own! The anchor cleaning clinic is essential knowledge for anyone looking to take next steps in climbing outside. There is a lot of risk with retrieving an anchor off fixed hardware and we will teach you how to identify the risk and manage it appropriately. This clinic pairs well with our Intro to Outdoor Climbing course and is offered on concurrent days.

    Duration: 3-4 hours

  • Sport climbing

Want to learn how to lead bolt protected climbs? Join us for this intensive course where you’ll learn the fundamentals of sport lead climbing including rope techniques, anchor building, anchor cleaning, and lead belaying. This course is best as a 2 day booking as there is a lot of material to cover.

    Duration: 2 full days

  • Traditional Climbing Basics

Trad climbing is what climbing always was until the introduction of all bolt protected routes. The leader places removable protection in cracks in the rock, when the lead climber has completed the route a follower then removes the protection. There is a higher level of risk associated with trad climbing and seeking professional instruction is a good way to jump start your introduction.

    Duration: 2 full days

  • Multi-pitch Traditional Climbing

Multi-pitch climbing is more complex and riskier than single-pitch climbing as the climbers will remain exposed on the route for longer. Multi-pitch climbing involves thorough planning and the use of intermediate belays, long rappels, and the creation of belay anchors. Multi-pitch climbs are an immersive experience that allow climbers to access bigger terrain that’s inaccessible with a single rope length. Rescues from multi-pitch climbs are far more serious, and climbers will learn additional protection strategies and skills to avoid this.

    Duration: 2 full days

  • Intro to Alpine

Interested in learning about alpine climbing? This course is designed for people who want to take their climbing to even bigger and more remote areas. Techniques taught in this program have been honed by years of experience instructing and guiding in areas like the Colorado Rockies and the Pacific Northwest. You will learn terrain identification and tools appropriate for moving over varying difficulties of terrain.

    Duration: 2 full days
