Stewardship

At the Appalachian Climbing School giving back to the environment and community is key to who we are. Over the years we have been involved in many projects including trail building at Rumbling Bald, Looking Glass, and Table Rock just to name a few. Wes has also been a leader in the region when it comes to replacing older climbing hardware. Fixed hardware replacement efforts include Looking Glass, Table Rock, Hawksbill, Sitting Bear, and Pilot Mountain State Park.

In 2022 Wes received the Kayah Gaydish Stewardship award from the Carolina Climbers Coalition for his volunteer efforts replacing aging fixed hardware in the Linville Gorge region.
